Vikas Yadav, who is serving a sentence in the Nitish Katara murder case, has received a setback from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court on Monday rejected the application for parole filed on his behalf. Vikas Yadav is serving a 25-year sentence in the murder case. In 2002, 25-year-old businessman Nitish Katara was assassinated. Vikas Yadav is the son of Bahubali leader DP Yadav.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi heard his petition. The bench headed by Gogoi said that if we have given a sentence of 25 years, then complete it. Vikas had sought a four-week trial from the court. Vikas had said in his application that he has completed his 17-year sentence, so he should get parole now.
Vikas and his brother Vishal along with a man named Sukhdev killed Nitish. The trio kidnapped Nitish from a wedding ceremony and beat him to death with a hammer. The body was later burnt. It was revealed that Nitish liked his classmate and DP Yadav’s daughter Bharti. It was only on this murder. Sukhdev has been sentenced to 20 years in this case.
