Nicholas Pooran has broken Article 2.14 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which is meant to deteriorate the condition of the ball. In the video footage, it is clearly seen that Nicholas Pooran is scratching the ball by nail of his thumb. Following this punishment by the ICC, Nicholas Pooran will miss the next three T20Is and one Test match for the West Indies.

Puran admitted this charge on Tuesday. At the same time, he has also accepted the punishment given by match referee Chris Brod of the ICC's Elite Panel. In such a situation, there will be no hearing on this. Nicholas Pooran said, "I believe that I have done the wrong thing and I fully accept the ICC sentence. Nicholas Pooran was charged by on-field umpires Bismillah Shinwari and Ahmed Durrani and third umpire Ahmed Paktin as well as fourth umpire Izzatullah Safi. Breaking Level 3 of the ICC Code of Conduct results in a punishment of at least four suspension points, which are added to the player's account as 5 demerit points.
