Sri Lanka Imposed Curfew Across the Country, Due to COVID-19

The Sri Lankan government has imposed a nationwide curfew in the country on Friday to deal with the Coronavirus COVID-19. Sri Lanka President said the curfew would last from Friday to Monday. A nationwide curfew will then be reviewed.

It was announced by the office of the President of Lanka, Gotabaya Rajapaksa that deadly virus has claimed 9,000 lives worldwide. The announcement comes a day after the country's Election Commission announced the postpone of parliamentary elections to be held on April 25. The commission has said that the decision on the new date will be taken after March 25.

The Office said in a statement that the curfew will be imposed with immediate effect from 6 pm on Friday until 6 am on March 23, reports the Colombo Page newspaper.

The island nation has so far reported Type 53 cases from Corona. Raj Opposition tweeted, Curfew is announced across the country today (March 20) from 6 pm to 6 am Monday. Al Jazeera said that Sri Lanka has banned all incoming flights for two weeks. Schools and universities have been closed. Let us know that Coronavirus, which originated in Wuhan city of China, has so far killed 10,000 people globally. The centre of the disease is now located in Europe.
