Pakistan court on Monday ordered the suspension of the Chinese video-sharing app TikTok for spreading immorality. The government had earlier removed the ban from this app three months ago. The Sindh High Court has given this order on a petition by a Pakistani citizen alleging that this app is promoting immorality and obscenity in the country. According to the reports, the court has ordered the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to suspend the app till July 8. The next hearing of this case is also to be held on the same day.

According to the news, the court has also blamed the Chinese app company in its order that despite giving assurances not to promote immorality and obscenity in various courts, such things are taking place through this app. The court said in its order that the app company is neither respecting nor following the rules and laws of Pakistan. The company has completely failed to comply with both and also completely failed to understand Islam and the culture of Pakistan. Recently, the government has run a social media Pride Month campaign for the LGBT community in Pakistan. The court alleges that the company is not even respecting it.

Peshawar HC banned TikTok in March:

Significantly, in March, the Peshawar High Court had ordered the PTA to ban the Tiktok app for spreading obscenity in society. The court had given this order on a petition filed against this app. Earlier in October last year, this app was blocked in Pakistan for a few days for broadcasting the wrong content. However, later the PTA gave a warning to the company and approved it to start again. The PTA had made it clear that the app will not show any kind of content which is against the culture and rules of the country and promotes any kind of immoral acts and obscenity in the society.
