Nepal's new Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will take the oath of office on or before 5 pm today. The Supreme Court of Nepal on Monday ordered him to be made the Prime Minister within two days. Along with this, the court also ordered the restoration of the dissolved Parliament. With this order, a five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana ended the week-long hearing.

Nepal's President Bidya Devi Bhandari dissolved Parliament on 22 May on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. The Nepalese Parliament was dissolved for the second time in the last 5 months. Along with this, she had also announced to hold elections on 12 and 19 November.

Nepal plunged into a political crisis on December 20 last year after President Bhandari dissolved the House and announced fresh elections amid a struggle for power within the ruling Communist Party of Nepal (NCP). On February 23, the apex court restored the dissolved House of Representatives, which had dealt a blow to Prime Minister Oli as he prepared for the mid-term elections.

Parliament was dissolved by the President in December

Nepal's politics has been grappling with a political crisis since December last year. Due to internal strife in the Communist Party of Nepal, on 20 December, on the advice of Prime Minister Oli, the President dissolved Parliament and announced fresh elections on 30 April and 10 May. After this, in February, the court restored Parliament.
