Two suicide attacks took place on Thursday evening just in front of the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. According to the American newspaper 'Wall Street Journal', so far 80 people have been killed and more than 200 have been injured. According to the news agency, the Khorasan Group of the terrorist organization ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack. General Kenneth McKenzie of the US Central Command said that 12 Marine commandos were among the dead, while 15 were injured. All flight operations from Kabul airport have been suspended.

According to sources, there are reports of 3 more blasts. Although it happened near the airport itself, it cannot be said. Heavy firing is also reported in the Darulaman area.

The US Defense Ministry Pentagon said – On Thursday, the first blast occurred at the Abbe Gate of Hamid Karzai International Airport. Shortly after, another explosion occurred near the Barron Hotel near the airport. British soldiers were staying here. Three suspects were seen outside the airport. Two of them were suicide bombers, while the third had come with a gun. The death toll is expected to rise.

Late-night US President said in a press conference – will not spare the attackers

US President Joe Biden has condemned the Kabul airport attack, saying that the death of soldiers is very sad, we will never forget or forgive the sacrifice of American soldiers in saving the lives of others. We will find and kill the terrorists. Our condolences to the families of the soldiers. We will rescue American citizens from Afghanistan and take out our Afghan allies, our mission will continue, we will also send additional troops if needed.

Taliban also called it a terrorist attack

The Taliban have so far confirmed the death of 15 people. This includes women and children. The Taliban called it a terrorist attack. A man at the airport told me that his child died in his lap.

The drain from the airport is filled with dead bodies

It has been told in the media report that there is a pile of dead bodies and injured in the drain adjoining the airport. There are dead bodies lying in the water. People are looking for their loved ones. A day earlier, the video of this drain had surfaced, in which there was a crowd of people. People were standing in the drain to go inside the airport.

NATO forces took all planes under security cover

The UK Defense Ministry confirmed both the blasts. All flights from Kabul Airport have been cancelled for security. All aircraft have been taken under security cover by NATO forces. Media reports said that it was a fidayeen attack and the target of the attacker was American and British soldiers. There is also news of firing on an Italian aircraft. Apart from Italy, there were citizens of some other countries in this aircraft.

Biden calls emergency meeting

US President Biden was informed immediately after two blasts at Kabul airport. CBS News quoted a White House source as saying – The president and his national security team met in the Situation Room for an hour. Foreign Minister Antony Blinken and Defense Minister Lloyd Austin were also present in this meeting. Apart from this, Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley was also with the President. Some big decisions can be taken in Afghanistan.

US citizens do not go to the airport

About half an hour after the blast, the US issued an advisory to its citizens not to go to Kabul Airport and to stay away from this area. The American Embassy in Kabul has shared this advisory on its Twitter handle. The special thing is that on Wednesday itself, an American officer had said that if there is an American in different parts of Afghanistan, then he should immediately contact the Embassy and reach Kabul Airport.

The US Embassy in Kabul has said that Americans who are present at the Abbe Gate, East Gate or North Gate of Kabul Airport should leave immediately and wait for further instructions. Britain had feared that ISIS might attack Kabul airport.
