In Tamilnadu, a newborn child was burnt alive by his grandmother and father. Police have arrested both of them in this case. The case is in the town of Sankarankovil in the Tenkashi district of the state.
Half Burnt Body of the Child
The haughtiness with the child took place in the early hours of Wednesday. People came to know about the incident when the half-burnt body of the child was found on the roadside. At about 4 in the morning, the flames were rising. Police in the town of Sankarankovil reached the spot and sent the body for autopsy. Police also used sniffer dogs during the investigation of the case. In which a dog stopped 300 meters from the spot where 22-year-old Sankaragomathi lived. Police initially suspected the body was found burnt because the child was not born dead. However, inquiries revealed that the child was alive with the woman.
Gave Birth at Home
Tenkashi District Superintendent of Police G. Suguna Singh said the woman became pregnant due to a relationship with a man named Shankar in the area and the two tried to miscarry the fetus with two pills, but could not. She gave birth to the child at around 2 am on Wednesday. Police said that grandmother Indra wrapped the child in pieces of cloth, then burnt it alive at some distance. Police have registered a case against Indra under section 315. At the same time, Shankar has been arrested under Section 109 of the Indian Penal Code.
It is being told that Shankaragomathy became very weak due to delivery without medical advice. She was undergoing treatment at Sankarakovil Government Hospital. Police said further action will be taken based on her statement.
