New Zealand’s World Cup Squad Announcement with a Difference

This year the 12th edition of the 2019 Cricket World Cup was scheduled to be hosted by England and Wales, from 30 May to 14 July 2019.

And now it is the fifth time that the Cricket World Cup will be held in England and Wales.

New Zealand is the first team that announces his World Cup team for this year. The squad was named the team on 3 April, morning at the Tai Tapu School. This time the NewZealand team included many new members and the man called  Henry Nicholls, the left-hander, who is set to make his World Cup debut. It was a proud moment for him.

New Zealand has announced a 15-member squad for the Cricket World Cup. Tom Blundell has been included as the reserve wicketkeeper in the team. The Kiwi team lost in the semi-finals six times in the tournament and reached the final for the first time four years ago, but Australia defeated them. New Zealand is currently on the third place in the ODI rankings followed by England and India. The 12th Cricket World Cup will be played in England and Wales from May 30 to July 14 this year.

Coach Gary Steed said, "We have announced a 15-member team. This team is able to move forward in the tournament. If we can play according to our ability, then we will make New Zealand proud."

Blundell has been given a chance because of injury in regular finger-keeper Tom Latham's finger. When Latham is fit, his playing is doubtful. New Zealand has to play Sri Lanka in Cardiff on June 1.

Kane Williamson (Captain), Tom Blundell, Trent Boult, Colin de Grandhomme, Lockie Ferguson, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Colin Munro, Jimmy Neesham, Henry Nicholls, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor

Taylor, who will be the seventh New Zealand player to play at four Cricket World Cups, remembered his own school and pointed out that regardless of one's background, anything can be achieved through sheer grit and determination.
