On Wednesday, New Zealand Women's Hockey team defeated Indian team by 1–0 in the third match. New Zealand's Hope Ralph scored the only goal in this match in the 37th minute. Earlier, the Indian team had defeated the New Zealand development team by 4–0 in the first match but lost the next match by 1–0. India started well and scored a penalty corner in the second minute, but could not score.

New Zealand also initially scored two penalty corners, but the Indian defense was quite strong. Indian coach Shored Marin said, "We did some experiments in defense today and gave New Zealand opportunities to enter the circle. At the moment it is appropriate to do all these experiments because we are preparing for the Olympics." In the second quarter, the Indian strikers scored a penalty corner but the hosts did not allow a goal. Marin said that our game is improving match by match and we are doing better in every next match. This time the result is not important but the process is important.

After a goalless first half, New Zealand made a positive start to the third quarter and scored in the 37th minute. In the last quarter, New Zealand got two and India got one penalty corner but could not score. The Indian team will play against Britain on February 4.
