In view of the highly infectious delta variant, New Zealand has raised the Covid-19 alert level
in the capital Wellington from Wednesday. The decision was taken after cases of the Delta variant were reported in its neighboring country Australia. Under this, offices, schools and businesses will remain open in the country, but people will have to maintain physical distance. Let us tell you that New Zealand had closed its borders in view of the increasing outbreak of Coronavirus.

The New Zealand government has taken the decision to tighten restrictions again in the country after an Australian tourist tested positive for COVID-19. Actually, this tourist came to New Zealand for a few days and on his return to Sydney, he tested positive. After this, New Zealand has taken a cautious decision that some restrictions will be followed in Wellington till Sunday night. The country's COVID Response Minister Chris Hipkins said that this is not a lockdown, it is a precautionary measure and it will remain in force until we do some necessary tests. Apart from this, strictness has also increased regarding travel rules in the country.

Alert level 2 imposed in Wellington:

Offices, schools and businesses can remain open under Alert Level 2 but physical distancing rules will have to be maintained. At the same time, sports and entertainment activities allowed. But not more than 100 people will allow to attend weddings, funerals and other events.
