As wars leave a huge impact on the soldiers and all those individuals involved in it that one cannot assure a normal lifestyle and a healthy mind after witnessing such brutality and so veterans tend to suffer from PTSD.

However, the New York research centers have come to the rescue as they have developed a computer programme based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) which can diagnose PTSD( Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). A study published in one of the journal Depression and Anxiety stated that the AI can tell the difference between the voices of those with and without PTSD with nearly 89% accuracy.

co-author Charles R. Marmar, Professor at NYU School of Medicine commented the research suggests that speech can be used to diagnose this disease and with further improvement and validation from the medical sciences, it can be employed in various clinics in coming future.

For further help in their study the practitioners, a statistical/Machine Learning (ML) technique, called random forests, this form of learning has the ability to classify individuals based on examples. These AI programmes witness an increase in the accuracy and decision making of results as the training data grows.

An experiment was conducted, involving 53 participants with PTSD and 78 veterans without the disease. The programme inked patterns of specific voice features with the disease such as lifeless tone, metallic and unclear voice. Such symptoms have been used to detect PTSD anecdotally as helpful in diagnosis.

even though the current study does not explore the mechanism behind PTSD, various theories state that unsettling events lead to an alteration in the brain circuits, which leads to a change in a person's voice.

Moreover, according to researchers, more than 70% adults around the world go through a traumatic experience at some time in their lives and more than 12% of the population of struggling countries suffer from PTSD.
