US scientists have developed a universal vaccine that protected rats not just against COVID-19 but also other coronaviruses. The vaccine has triggered the immune system to fight off a dangerous variant. This vaccine is going through its final stages. Once this vaccine is ready, then we will have a powerful weapon to fight such epidemics in the future.

The trial of this vaccine is currently being undergoing on rats. When this vaccine was tested on mice, the vaccine developed many such antibodies that can counter many spike proteins. This also included variants such as B.1.351 found in South Africa.

Vaccine has the potential to prevent outbreaks: Scientists

Scientists from the North Carolina University of America are currently working on this vaccine. According to scientists, no one knows which virus may cause the next outbreak, so all kinds of preparations will have to be made from now on. It is being told that the team designed the vaccine to provide protection from the current SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and a group of coronaviruses known to make the jump from animals to humans.

Let us tell you that the team's approach started with the mRNA method. This is the same method that Pfizer and Moderna have used to develop the current vaccine. Meanwhile, study lead author Ralph Baric said, "The vaccine has the potential to prevent outbreaks when used as a new variant detected."

Another lead author David Martinez said, "Our findings look bright for the future because they suggest we can design more universal pan coronavirus vaccines to proactively guard against viruses we know are at risk for emerging in humans."
