Some antibiotics have been found to be effective in fighting skin cancer (melanoma). Belgian scientists who conducted the research say, these antibiotics target cancer cells and stop them from growing. The effect of these antibiotics has been seen in experiments on rats. According to research published in the Journal of Experimental Medicines, these antibiotics may prove to be a weapon in fighting skin cancer.

Antibiotics can control cancer cells

According to researcher Eleonora Liucci, as skin cancer progresses, some cancer cells protect themselves from the effects of drugs during treatment. These cells have the potential to form new tumors in the future. Research has found that they can be controlled with the help of antibiotics. Such antibiotics can be used as anti-melanoma agents.

Rat experiment

An experiment was conducted to see the effect of antibiotics on cancer cells. The cancerous tumor was removed from the patient and implanted in the rat. It was treated with anti-biotics. Researcher Liucci says the antibiotics rapidly killed many cancer cells.

During the research, the effect of such drugs was seen which have proved to be ineffective on bacteria. However, this has not had an effect during cancer treatment. Cancer cells have been shown to be sensitive to these drugs. Therefore, apart from bacterial infections, they can also be used in the treatment of cancer.

What is melanoma i.e. skin cancer?

Melanoma is a type of skin cancer. Which is the most dangerous. What is the reason for this, it is not known yet, but scientists believe that the rays of the sun are a big risk factor for this cancer.
According to the American Cancer Society, most cases of skin cancer are seen in white people, ie white people, then black people.
