In Afghanistan's Hindu Kush region, an earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale was felt. A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan's Hindukush region, according to the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC). The earthquake's magnitude was previously estimated to be 6.7.
On Saturday morning, these earthquake vibrations were reported from Afghanistan to various parts of India and Pakistan, according to reports. The earthquake was recorded to have a depth of 210 kilometres. However, there has been no report of any danger to life or property as a result of the earthquake.
At 9:46 a.m., severe earthquake vibrations were detected in several parts of the country, including Kashmir. It had a magnitude of 5.9 on the Richter scale. The earthquake's shocks were so intense that individuals fled their homes in fear. Poonch district experienced similar shocks. Not only that, but the earthquake's shocks were felt in Delhi NCR as well, prompting people to leave their houses. For a few seconds, people felt a jolt. Some folks thought it was too fast.
According to reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi contacted Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to inquire about the earthquake situation in the Union Territory.
The Hindukush ranges cover a vast region of more than 3500 kilometres. Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, India, Nepal, Myanmar, and Pakistan are among the eight countries that make up the region. The Hindukush Himalaya is the world's most important 'water tower', which of Asia's ten greatest rivers has its source. The 1.3 billion people who live in mountainous and low-lying areas rely on these rivers for drinking water, irrigation, energy, industry, and sanitation.
