
COVID-19 Update: India, which has been grappling with the deadly Covid-19 pandemic, witnessed a much-needed dip in the daily caseload for the third consecutive day on Tuesday.
As per the latest figures released by the Union Health Ministry, the country recorded 6,660 fresh cases of the infection in the last 24 hours. This comes as a sigh of relief for the country, which has been reeling under the second wave of the pandemic.
The daily positivity rate is at 3.52%, while the weekly positivity rate is reported to be 5.42%.
Over the last 24 hours, a total of 24 Covid-19-related deaths were reported in various parts of India, according to data released by the Union Health Ministry.
The highest number of fatalities were reported in Punjab, where four individuals lost their lives to the virus. Three deaths were reported in Delhi, while two each were reported in Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka.
In addition, one death each was recorded in Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu. Kerala, on the other hand, saw a reconciliation of nine deaths.
As of the latest update, the death toll due to Covid-19 in India has reached 5,31,369, with a case fatality rate of 1.18%.
The total number of active cases currently stands at 63,380, which accounts for 0.14% of the total Covid-19 cases in the country.
However, the national recovery rate remains high at 98.67%.
India saw a decrease in the number of new Covid-19 cases reported over the past three days. On April 24, there were 7,178 new cases recorded, while on April 23, the number of new cases was 10,112.
The highest number of new cases over the past three days was recorded on April 22, with 12,193 new cases reported.
