In year 1528, Mughal Commander Mir Baki was overseeing construction of a Masjid. He chose Ram Kota or the Rama's Fortress as the construction site. This used to be a Ram Temple which was razed down by mughals.
Thakur Gajraj Singh of Sarayrasi could not take this humiliation. He assembled and army of 90 Thousand Kshatriyas and set out to taken on the Mughal army.
The Battle ended with Mughal Victory and death of 80 Thousand Kshatriyas.
When Gajraj Singh returned home, Rajput women admonished him and told him to throw away his 'Pagdi',which is sign of pride for the rajputs.
Rajputs on that day took the vow to not to wear pagdi and to not to wear Leather Jooti till the day ram temple is reconstructed.
500 years have passed since then, Rajputs of 126 villages near ayodhya have not even touched pagdi.
Chandrabhooshan Singh is 9th generation of Thakur Gajraj singh, he is pleased that after 9 generation at last the day has come to fulfill the vow taken by his forefathers. He says, even grooms did not wear pagdi in this many years, at last the day we have waited for have come.
