Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet Operating their Flights to bring Stranded Indians Back Home

The situation is becoming difficult in Ukraine due to the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia. Amidst the worsening crisis, the Government of India has started Operation 'Ganga' to rescue the citizens trapped there. Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said that the government will bear the entire cost of the process of evacuating people from Ukraine. Apart from Air India, other airlines are also operating their flights.

IndiGo is also involved in the mission

IndiGo is operating two flights using A321 aircraft. These flights are being operated from Delhi to Bucharest, Romania and Budapest, Hungary via Istanbul as part of Operation 'Ganga' of the Government of India. The company will operate flights from Delhi on Monday and Tuesday. The Indian government is bringing back its citizens trapped in Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Air India planes are already in operation

"We are in close contact with the Indian government to extend our support for more such evacuation flights", the company said in a press statement. An Air India flight landed in Romania's capital Bucharest on Saturday morning for evacuation. The aircraft, AI1943, took off from Mumbai airport at around 3.40 pm (Indian Standard Time) and landed at Bucharest airport at around 10.45 pm (Indian Standard Time).

On Friday night, Air India said on Twitter that it will operate B787 aircraft from Delhi and Mumbai to Bucharest and Budapest on Saturday as special government charter flights to bring back stranded Indian nationals. India on Thursday announced the launch of Operation Ganga to rescue civilians stranded in Ukraine amid a worsening crisis in the country after Russia declared war. SpiceJet is planning to operate more evacuation flights.
