Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who was released on furlough just before the 2022 Punjab elections, has been provided Z-plus security by the government of Haryana. It is being told that Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim is facing the threat of life from pro-Khalistan activists. Based on this, the security of Z-plus has been provided by the Haryana Government. It is being told that Gurmeet Ram Rahim had informed the High Court on February 6, about the threat to his life from pro-Khalistan activists.
According to the media sources, it has come to the fore from the High Court's record that Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim is facing threat to his life from pro-Khalistan activists. As soon as this came to the fore, the government of Haryana has decided to provide Z-plus security to Ram Rahim.

It is being told that before releasing Ram Rahim on furlough, the Haryana government had also taken legal advice from the Advocate General. The Advocate General, in his advice to the Haryana government on January 25, had said that Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim cannot be kept in the category of hardcore criminals under the Haryana Good Conduct Prisoners Act. He said that Dera Sacha Sauda chief has been convicted for conspiring with co-accused in the murders.
In the case of the release of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim on furlough, a record has been presented by the Haryana government in the High Court on Monday. In this, the government has made it clear before the court that the decision to release Ram Rahim on furlough has been taken as per due process. The hearing has been rescheduled for Wednesday due to the High Court's time being up on Monday.
On the other hand, Paramjit Singh Saholi, an independent candidate from Punjab's Samana assembly seat, has filed a petition in the High Court regarding the release of Dera Sacha Sauda on furlough by the Haryana government. In the petition filed by paramjit Singh in the court, he has made serious allegations against the Haryana government. Paramjit Singh Saholi said that just before the assembly elections in Punjab, Dera Chief Ram Rahim has been released on furlough to take political advantage.
Petitioner Paramjit Saholi has alleged in his petition that Ram Rahim has a deep influence in many seats of Punjab and in such a situation, his furlough may disturb peace in Punjab. He said that the fairness of the elections in Punjab would also be affected by the furlough of Ram Rahim. Even when Ram Rahim was sentenced, there was heavy violence in Haryana’s Panchkula. In such a situation, providing Z-Plus security by the Haryana government is completely wrong. Being convicted in a serious case like rape and murder, he does not have the right to furlough under the Haryana Good Conduct Prisoners Act.
