Patra Chawl Case: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has got a big setback today i.e. on August 04. The ED custody of the Shiv Sena leader has been extended till August 8 in the money laundering case related to the Patra Chawl Scam.
Let us tell you that today the time of custody of Sanjay Raut was over, after which he was presented in the special court of ED. The court decided to send him to ED custody for 5 more days.
Earlier, Raut was produced before the ED's special court on August 1. The ED had sought his custody for 8 days. But the court sent him to custody till August 4.
Raut was arrested on Sunday i.e. on July 31 at midnight in connection with alleged financial irregularities.
The ED on Monday i.e. on Aug 1 produced Raut before PMLA court judge MG Deshpande and sought his remand for eight days.
But the court sent the Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut to the agency's custody till August 4.
The agency had told the court on Monday that Raut and his family had received illegal money of over Rs 1 crore from alleged irregularities in the housing redevelopment project.
Significantly, the Enforcement Directorate's action against Raut has come in connection with the Rs 1,034 crore Patra Chawl scam.
The ED on Sunday raided Raut's house for nine hours and arrested him in this case.
Significantly, Raut's house was raided by the ED only last week, during the raid, cash worth Rs 11.5 lakh was recovered from his house.
