Amritpal Singh Case: A recently released CCTV footage captures Amritpal Singh, the Khalistani leader and Waris Punjab De chief, walking on a street in the Shahabad area of Kurukshetra.
In the video, the fugitive Amritpal Singh can be seen crossing a residential street while wearing a light-blue shirt and black pants. He is carrying a small bag and a black umbrella with him.
It is reported that Amritpal Singh carried an umbrella to conceal his identity, making it difficult for CCTV cameras to capture his face.
During the ongoing search operation against him in Punjab, Amritpal Singh fled to Haryana where he stayed on March 19 and left the following day.
A day ago i.e. on March 23, the police arrested Baljit Kaur for reportedly providing shelter to Amritpal and his associate Papalpreet Singh at her residence in the Kurukshetra district of Haryana.
According to the police, Baljit Kaur was arrested from the Shahabad area. It was further stated that Baljit Kaur had known Papalpreet for over two years.
According to a report by news agency PTI, Kurukshetra Superintendent of Police Surinder Singh Bhoria stated that Baljit Kaur, who had given shelter to Amritpal and Papalpreet Singh at her residence in Shahabad on Sunday, has been arrested and handed over to the Punjab Police.
Since the Punjab Police launched a massive manhunt against Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh and his associates, the fugitive has been on the run.
As the manhunt entered Day 7 on Friday, a convoy of over 50 cars pursued him last week, but he managed to slip away from their grasp.
It is suspected that the Khalistani leader had made plans to flee the country.
