Former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi assassination case convict Nalini Sriharan has been released on parole for a month by the Tamil Nadu government. The Tamil Nadu government has decided to grant parole for one month on the appeal of the mother of Nalini Sriharan, who is suffering from illness. The government has informed the Madras High Court about this.

Nalini is serving life sentence for more than 20 years

However, the Tamil Nadu government had told the Madras High Court only last year that it had recommended to the governor for the release of all the convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi assassination case convict Nalini Sriharan is serving a life sentence for more than 20 years.

Let us tell you that the former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on 21 May 1991 during an election rally in Sriperumbudur through a bomb blast. However, the hand of LTTE terrorists operating in Sri Lanka was being told in this massacre. Apart from Nalini Sriharan, her husband Murugan, Suthinathira Raja alias Santhan, AG Perarivalan, Robert Payas, Jayakumar and Ravichandran have been convicted in this murder case. Four of these convicts Nalini Sriharan, Santhan, Robert Payas and Jayakumar are Sri Lankan citizens.

According to media reports, the conspiracy to assassinate former Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi was hatched by Prabhakaran, the supremo of Sri Lankan terrorist organization LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam). Prabhakaran along with Baby Subramaniam, Muthuraja, Murugan and Sivarasan conspired to assassinate Rajiv Gandhi. He had hatched this conspiracy in November 1990, which was executed six months later on 21 May 1991.

Nalini have been kept in the women's special cell

The murder convict Nalini Sriharan had allegedly threatened to kill herself along with one of her co-prisoners last year. The report said that Nalini and another convict have been kept in the women's special cell in Vellore. A convict serving life imprisonment complained about this to the jailer.
