Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: On Wednesday, June 5, Narendra Modi resigned from the post of Prime Minister. He went to Rashtrapati Bhavan and submitted his resignation to President Droupadi Murmu.

In the final cabinet meeting before his resignation, he commented on the election results, saying that victory and defeat are part of politics and that the numbers game continues.

The President accepted the resignation and requested him to remain as the acting Prime Minister. Photos of PM Modi and President Murmu's meeting and the resignation submission have been released.

A tweet from the official X handle of the President read, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Prime Minister, along with the Union Council of Ministers, submitted his resignation. The President accepted the resignation and requested the Prime Minister and the Union Council of Ministers to continue in their roles until the formation of the new government."

Naidu-Nitish BJP's Hope

The BJP-led NDA has won the majority with 294 seats, which has significantly increased the possibility of an NDA government being formed.

However, the BJP did not achieve a majority on its own. This has sparked discussions in political circles about the possibility of NDA allies leaving the coalition.

If such a scenario occurs, it could be challenging for the NDA to retain power. The most talked about leaders in this context are Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu. Both leaders have indirectly indicated that they want to remain with the NDA.

PM Modi Could Take Oath for Third Term On June 8

According to sources, there is a likelihood that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take oath for the third time as the country's Prime Minister on June 8.

On June 7, in an NDA meeting, there is an expectation that he will be chosen as the coalition leader. It should be noted that in the election results, the BJP has won on 240 seats, while the Congress has won 99 seats.
