Lalu Prasad Yadav Sentenced to 5 Years in Fodder Scam Case, Fined Rs 60 Lakh

Former Bihar CM and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, who has been convicted in the biggest case of fodder scam involving the illegal withdrawal of Rs 139.35 crore from Doranda treasury, has been arrested by a special CBI court on Monday. The court sentenced Lalu Prasad to 5 years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 60 lakh. Lalu Prasad appeared in the court through video conferencing. The special court had convicted them on February 15 last. Lalu Prasad is already convicted in four cases of fodder scam.
In the biggest case of fodder scam, the court of Special CBI Judge SK Shashi today sentenced Lalu Prasad Yadav. The court sentenced him in the fifth case of fodder scam involving the illegal withdrawal of Rs 139.35 crore from Doranda treasury. On February 15, 75 accused, including Lalu Prasad, were convicted by the court. Of these, the date of 21 February was fixed for the decision on the point of punishment of 38 accused, while 24 accused were acquitted. In this case, a total of 99 accused had faced trial in the court.

There are a total of five cases in Jharkhand related to Lalu Prasad Yadav in the fodder scam. He has already been convicted in four of these cases and is out on bail in all these cases. Lalu has already got bail from Jharkhand High Court in two cases of Chaibasa, fodder scam related to Deoghar and Dumka. On Monday, in the case of illegal withdrawal from the biggest Doranda treasury of fodder scam, the special CBI court also sentenced Lalu Prasad Yadav.
Lalu Prasad, already convicted in four cases of fodder scam, has been sentenced by the special CBI court in the fifth case as well. He is currently undergoing treatment at RIMS, Ranchi after the recommendation of the Medical Board. At the time of sentencing, Lalu Prasad appeared in the special CBI court through video conferencing. Earlier Lalu Prasad Yadav was under a lot of stress. His BP had increased. His health was examined by the doctors of RIMS.
