Lakhimpur Kheri Case: The Supreme Court has cancelled the bail of Ashish Mishra, the son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra and the main accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. Along with cancelling the bail, the Supreme Court has directed Ashish Mishra to surrender within a week. On April 4, after hearing the arguments of all the parties in the case, the Supreme Court had reserved the decision after completing the hearing. A special bench of Chief Justice NV Ramana and Justice Suryakant and Justice Hima Kohli gave this verdict.

On April 4, the court had reserved its decision on the petition of farmers for the cancellation of bail of Ashish Mishra. Earlier, questions were raised in the court on the order of the Allahabad High Court to grant bail to Ashish Mishra. A committee constituted by the Supreme Court to oversee the investigation into the incident had recommended challenging the cancellation of the bail. The monitoring committee set up by the Supreme Court had asked the Uttar Pradesh government to challenge the Allahabad High Court's decision to grant bail to Ashish Mishra.
