Kalicharan Maharaj was arrested on Thursday morning by the Chhattisgarh Police. Kalicharan Maharaj has been accused of making indecent remarks on Mahatma Gandhi, after which he has been arrested.
Kalicharan Maharaj was arrested from Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh in the early hours of Thursday, after which a situation of confrontation has arisen between the two states. Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that the manner in which the Chhattisgarh Police has arrested Kalicharan Maharaj is against federal dignity.
At the same time, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel took a jibe at Mishra's statement and said that the BJP leader should tell whether he is happy or sad on the arrest of the religious leader. Kalicharan Maharaj was arrested from a rented house near Bageshwar Dham which is about 25 km from Khajuraho city of Madhya Pradesh.
Kalicharan Maharaj has been accused of abusing Mahatma Gandhi in the Parliament of Religions held in Raipur. Kalicharan had also praised Nathuram Godse in his address and talked about fundamentalist Hindutva.
Kalicharan had said that a fanatical Hindu leader should be elected as the head of the government to protect the religion. This statement of Kalicharan has created a ruckus and all political parties have targeted PM Narendra Modi and his government.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is continuously attacking Hindu and fundamentalist Hindutva and saying that the BJP government is promoting fanatic Hindutva which is creating communal tension in the country. However, a lot of politics is being done on this statement of Rahul Gandhi and he is being attacked for the separation of Hindu and Hindutva.
