After being shot, Rahul Bhat was taken to a major hospital in Srinagar for treatment in an injured condition, but he died.

Rahul Bhat lived with his wife and six-year-old girl in a government house in Sheikhpura village of Budgam district. Government housing has been constructed here under the welfare scheme of the Central Government for Kashmiri Pandits.
