In Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam, encounters between security forces and terrorists have been ongoing at two locations since Saturday morning (July 6).
The confrontation began when terrorists opened fire during a search operation in the area, resulting in the martyrdom of a soldier. Subsequently, a fierce encounter ensued.
Amidst the ongoing operation, the security forces achieved significant success by neutralizing four terrorists in Kulgam district. The encounter is still in progress.
A joint operation is being conducted by the CRPF, Army, and Jammu and Kashmir Police. A few hours after the initial encounter in Kulgam, another encounter began in the Chingam area of Frisal village in the same district.
The security forces received information about the presence of Lashkar terrorists in the area, prompting immediate action.
Due to information provided by Jammu and Kashmir Police about encounters with terrorists at these two locations, additional forces have been deployed throughout the area.
Security forces have cordoned off the affected areas following the encounters.
Recent days have seen an increase in terrorist activities in these areas. Just last month, security forces successfully neutralized three terrorists in the Gandoh area of Doda district.
Earlier, security forces had eliminated two terrorists in Pulwama. These militants were senior commanders of the Lashkar-e-Taiba's The Resistance Front branch and had been trapped in a house during an encounter with security forces in the Pulwama district. They were using the house as a hideout.
