Indore-Surat named cleanest cities: Maharastra Tops the list for states

Centeral Government on Tuesday released the Swach Sarvekshan report 2023. Indore tops the list for cleanest city in one lakh plus population for the sevent time in a row. However, Surat has also been named cleanest city along with indore in the same category.

Surat, Indore and Navi Mumbai has been given 7 star ratings in garbade free city category. Criterions for garbage free city category are door to door waste collection, waste generation and processing, waste treatment, cleanliness in residential and commercial areas etc.

Worlds Largest Cleanliness Survey

India's Cleanliness Survey in worlds largest survey of its kind. This survey was started in 2016. Its innaugral report included 73 Major cities while the 2023 report included 4500 plus cities.
