Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Thursday that India is ready to share its 5G technology expertise with other countries of the world. He said that some critical parts for 5G have been taken from countries like South Korea, but the technology is completely indigenous. It is not imported. This is our product.

Proud of India's achievement on 5G

Sitharaman said that 5G services were recently launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in select cities. By the end of 2024, most of the people of the country will be able to take advantage of this technology. We are extremely proud of India's achievement of 5G.

Sitharaman is in Washington DC

The Finance Minister made this statement during an interaction with students at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). The Finance Minister is currently in Washington DC to attend the meeting of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

Airtel's 8, Jio's service in 4 cities

Airtel is currently offering 5G service in 8 cities and Reliance Jio in 4 cities in India. The 8 cities are Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur, and Varanasi. The 4 cities where Jio has started beta trials are Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Varanasi. Jio has promised 5G service across the country by December 2023 and Airtel by March 2024.

The fifth generation of internet networks is called 5G. It is a wireless broadband Internet service that provides high-speed Internet service through waves. There are mainly three types of frequency bands in it.

  • Low-Frequency Band - Best in area coverage, internet speed 100 Mbps, internet speed low

  • Mid Frequency Band - Internet speed 1.5 Gbps above the low band, area coverage less than the low-frequency band, good in terms of signal

  • High-Frequency Band - Internet speed is a maximum of 20 Gbps, area cover is lowest, also good in terms of signal
