India has been importing arms from other countries for a long time but now the situation is changing. India is now joining those countries from where arms are imported by other countries. Philippines has signed a big deal with India to buy arms. India will sell BrahMos supersonic missiles to the Philippines Navy. This is the first foreign order for the export of BrahMos supersonic missiles.
India and the Philippines have signed an agreement today worth USD 375 million for the sale of BrahMos supersonic anti-ship cruise missiles. Top defence officials of the Philippines were present on the occasion while India was represented by its ambassador.
This decision is being considered big because, after the Philippines, other countries will also start looking at India from the point of view of a country capable of selling arms. Along with becoming self-reliant, the Government of India is preparing a strategy to improve the situation in the business of defence equipments. This decision will strengthen the India's position and will further strengthen India's efforts to become a major arms exporter. It can also pave the way for Southeast Asian countries to acquire missiles jointly developed by India and Russia.
This big deal of India is knocking China. The biggest reason for this is the relationship between China and the Philippines. The Philippines has a dispute with China in the South China Sea, the Philippine Marine intends to use the BrahMos as a shore-based anti-ship missile. The Philippines can use it to protect these areas.
