Prophet Remarks Case: Protests were held in many cities of the country after Friday prayers against the hate speech of Nupur Sharma. These demonstrations have taken place in Delhi's Jama Masjid, Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur, Moradabad, Prayagraj, West Bengal's Howrah, Jharkhand's Ranchi, Bihar's Arrah and Punjab's Ludhiana.
People's demonstration in Ranchi became quite furious. Here the police clashed with the protesters on the road. In this clash, more than 12 policemen including Ranchi SP City Anshuman Kumar were injured.
After the violence on January 3 in Kanpur, in view of Friday prayers, the district administration has made strict arrangements to maintain peace and order. Drones were deployed there after identifying sensitive places.
Police conducted flag march in areas prone to violence. In Kanpur, Friday prayers ended peacefully but in Saharanpur, Moradabad and Prayagraj people took to the streets and demonstrated.
During the demonstration in the cities of UP, Chief Minister Adityanath ordered the officials to show strictness. The CM has said that strict action should be taken at such places where there is a possibility of breach of peace.
Protesters pelted stones in Prayagraj whereas in Moradabad, the police had to lathi-charge to control them. There was a stampede here due to the lathi charge.
In Howrah , people of the Muslim community took to the streets and demonstrated against BJP leader Nupur Sharma's statement. Here the traffic system was hampered due to the burning of tires on the roads. Demonstrations were also seen on the road after Friday prayers in Arrah, Bihar.
