COVID-19 Update: India has reported 1,690 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry on May 11.

The number of active cases has also decreased to 19,613, down from 21,406 the previous day.

The death toll has risen to 5,31,736 with an additional 12 fatalities reported, including those reconciled by the state of Kerala. The latest data was updated at 8 am on May 11.

India's total count of COVID-19 cases has reached 4.49 crore (4,49,76,599) as of May 11th. Of these cases, the number of active infections has reduced to 19,613, constituting only 0.04% of the total cases, according to the latest data.

According to the Union Health Ministry, India's COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.77 per cent, with over 4.44 crore (4,44,25,250) people having recovered from the disease.

The current case fatality rate is at 1.18 per cent, and the number of active cases has dropped to 19,613.

As per the health ministry's website, the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has administered over 220.66 crore doses of vaccines until now.

Signs and symptoms of COVID-19 include:

  • Fever or Chills

  • Cough

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Fatigue

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Loss of smell or taste

  • Diarrhea

  • Sore Throat

  • Vomiting
