The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has decided to conduct a forensic psychological examination of nine people arrested in connection with the murders in West Bengal's Birbhum district. In this regard, an official said on Saturday that during the investigation, a psychologist will be present to keep an eye on his body as well as facial expressions and these will be considered as evidence.

Test will be conducted to find out the truth

The officer told PTI that while interrogating the nine suspects, a forensic psychological examination would be conducted to ascertain whether these people were telling the truth or lying. A psychologist will be present and he will report on his findings, which will be presented as evidence in court. At the same time, another official said that the CBI has found discrepancies in his statements about the incident, after which this decision has been taken.

He said that the investigating agency has questioned the officer-in-charge of the fire brigade who was involved in the operation to douse the fire that broke out in 10 houses in Bogtui village. These houses were set on fire after the murder of local TMC leader Bhadu Sheikh. The CBI has also taken the decision to send samples of eight people killed in the massacre for DNA testing. The affected families have told us that they have not been able to identify the bodies, the official said. The DNA test will help us to identify them.

The CBI has also seized two e-rickshaws and a motorcycle, which the villagers claimed were used to bring bombs and utensils filled with petrol. It is worth mentioning that hours after the murder of the Trinamool Congress leader, the burnt bodies of eight people were recovered from Bogatui village under Rampurhat police station in the district. Meanwhile, Debashish Chakraborty has been appointed as the new Inspector-in-Charge of Rampurhat police station in place of suspended officer Tridip Pramanik.
