BJP leader T Raja Singh has been arrested in Hyderabad for making derogatory remarks on Prophet Muhammad.
Raja Singh, BJP MLA from Goshamahal, had used derogatory words about the Prophet in a video.
Later, he called it a joke, but a large number of people took to the streets in protest against him.
From the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday, people started protesting, which continued till Tuesday morning. During this, the crowd raised slogans of 'Gustakh E Nabi Ki Ek Saja, Sir Tan Se Juda' and demanded the arrest of T Raja.
After this, a case was registered against him at Dabeerpura police station under several sections including sections 295 (A), and 153 (A) of the IPC.
The police have started an investigation into this matter also. The police have also detained several protesters.
A large number of police forces have been deployed outside the office of the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, the office of the Director General of Police and the old Police Commissioner's office.
BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma made a controversial statement on Prophet Muhammad Sahab during a TV debate on 27 May.
Due to her statement, BJP suspended Nupur Sharma from the party for 6 years.

Nupur Sharma was also reprimanded by the Supreme Court in this case. The court had said that Nupur had made provocative remarks against a particular religion on television.
Nupur has provoked the sentiments of the people and she is responsible for whatever is happening across the country. She has posed a threat to the security of the country.
