Symbolism behind kovidar

It is believed that the Bauhinia or ‘Kovidar’ was regal tree of Ayodhya and was part of royal banner of Ayodhya in ancient times. As per the mythological belief the tree was created by rishi Kashyap using his mystic powers. The “Hari vansh puran’ also mentions Kovidar tree.

According to Lalit Mishra, Sun was included in the flag because Shree Ram was from Raghu Dynasty which traces its origin from the Sun god or the ‘Suryavansha’.
