Umesh Pal Murder Case: On Monday, the police stated that Guddu Muslim, who is known to be a henchman of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed, was last located in Karnataka.
He is among the accused in the Umesh Pal murder case and has been evading authorities since the day of the crime, February 24.
Six persons linked to Umesh Pal murder including gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed have been assassinated in less than two months since Umesh Pal was killed. Along with Umesh Pal, two of his bodyguards were also killed in Prayagraj.
On February 25, a day after Umesh Pal was assassinated, ten people were named in an FIR filed at the Dhoomanganj police station. Atiq Ahmed's son Asad Ahmed was named as one of the shooters, along with six other individuals.
In addition to Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf, four more people identified in the FIR have been killed: Asad, Arbaaz, Vijay Chaudhary alias Usman, and Ghulam.
On Saturday i.e. April 15, three assassins shot dead criminal-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf in Prayagraj while being escorted by over a dozen police officers for a normal medical checkup. The assailants fired several bullets. Both were killed on the spot.
UP police claimed to have examined about 10,000 phone calls in their quest for Guddu and others who remain at large. A senior police officer, speaking on the condition of anonymity, stated that authorities are on the lookout.
The prize for Guddu Muslim, Arman, and Sabir has also been upped to Rs 5 lakh apiece.
This is possibly the first time in a decade that such a large prize for absconders has been declared.
The UPSTF is assisting Maharashtra police in locating the culprit, as well as determining who has been assisting him in hiding so that the person can be questioned and charged for assisting Guddu.
Since last night, UP police and Nashik police have been conducting searches in Nashik and surrounding regions in search of Guddu.
Guddu is said to have moved multiple times, visiting West Bengal, Bihar, Gujarat, and Delhi, and the STF has been following him at all times.
Guddu Muslim, a property dealer, had previously worked with Atiq Ahmed.
On February 24, Umesh Pal and one of his two armed security escorts were shot dead in Prayagraj's Sulem Saray neighbourhood. Several shots were fired, as well as bombs, at Umesh and his gunners.
Guddu was one of the five main suspects in the February 24 shootout in Prayagraj's Dhumanganj. He was also seen throwing bombs in CCTV footage.
