The Special Court has announced the punishment in the 2008 Ahmedabad serial bomb blast case. The court had convicted 49 people. The court has sentenced 38 people to death, while 11 have been given life imprisonment. A special court in Gujarat on Tuesday convicted 49 accused and acquitted 28 others in the 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts case.

Total of 56 people were killed in the blasts

Significantly, on 26 July 2008, there were serial bomb blasts in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. A total of 56 people were killed in one after the other blasts. The whole country including Gujarat was shaken by this incident. At that time, the then Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi and the then Home Minister Amit Shah had directed the police department to take immediate action.

Investigation of the police in this case

The officers investigating the Ahmedabad bomb blasts worked on many leads but so far they could not reach any conclusion. Meanwhile, DCP Abhay Chudasama, who was in the investigation team, got a lead. Somehow they got the news that the car used in the blasts has been seen in Bharuch. After this the team reached Bharuch overnight. During investigation, the house where the bomb was made was found. This proved to be the first and most effective lead for the police.

After the bomb blast in Ahmedabad, the police interrogated the landlord and got a phone number, after which all the secrets went on revealing hard. After this, the Crime Branch formed a team of 150 police personnel and officers. The entire team conducted hundreds of raids. The criminals were caught and interrogated. As a result, only 19 days after the incident, 30 people related to the blast were arrested by the police. After this, the rest of the terrorists were also arrested. At that time all the accused belonged to the terrorist organization Indian Mujahideen.

The police had registered 20 FIRs in the blast case. At the same time, apart from this, 15 FIRs were also registered in Surat. After the arrest, the accused were tried for 13 years in court.
