Nasser Hussain came out in Support of Ravichandran Ashwin
Former England cricket team captain Nasser Hussain has said that Ravichandran Ashwin should get a chance in the Indian team's playing XI for the fourth Test between India and England to be played at Kennington Oval. In the first three Test matches played so far, R Ashwin did not get a chance to play, due to which Indian captain Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri also faced a lot of criticism.
Can't keep world number 2 bowler out
After the humiliating defeat in Leeds, it is being discussed everywhere in the cricket corridors that Ashwin should now get a chance to play. Nasser Hussain wrote in his column for the Daily Mail – India has an off-spin bowler who is ranked No. 2 in the rankings in the world. Also as a batsman, Ravichandran Ashwin has scored five centuries in Tests. He should have played against five left-handers from England at Headingley and should have played at The Oval as well.
Ashwin can show amazing performance with both bat and ball
There is no doubt that Ashwin can make a great contribution to Team India with both the ball and the bat. In 79 Test matches played so far, Ashwin has scored 2685 runs with 413 wickets. He has five centuries in his name in the Test format. When England toured India this year, R Ashwin scored a brilliant century in the Chennai Test as well.
One more batsman should be included in the team
According to Nasser Hussain, India should add another batsman to the top six, and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant should be fed at number 7. Hussain said- Most likely Ashwin will come in place of a fast bowler. There is also a high chance that Ishant Sharma, who was struggling at Headingley and Ravindra Jadeja, may be included in the team looking more balanced with regards to batting till Jadeja recovers from a knee injury.
4th Test from 2nd September
The fourth Test match between India and England will be played from September 2 at the Kennington Oval. The first test was a draw, while in the second, Team India showed a great game and won the match by 151 runs. However, England came back strongly in the Leeds Test and won the match by an innings and 76 runs. The Philhar series is tied at 1-1.
