Lok Sabha member Mohan Delkar from Dadra and Nagar Haveli has been found dead in a hotel in South Mumbai. His body was found at Hotel Sea Green on Marine Drive. The police also found a suicide note written in Gujarati from that room. His body has been sent for postmortem.
Delkar was 58 years old and an independent Lok Sabha member. He became MP for the first time in 1989. Since then, he was elected to the Lok Sabha 7 times. He had won the Lok Sabha elections six times in a row from 1989 to 2004. Delkar is survived by wife Kalaben Delkar, two children Abhinav and Divita.

Delkar was BJP, Congress and Independent MP
Delkar contested as BJP, Congress, and Independent candidates. He contested from Congress in 1991 and 1996 and won. He then split from Congress and contested and won the 1998 election as a BJP candidate. In 1999, he was again elected as an independent MP.
In 2004, he formed his own party called Bharat Navashakti Party and became MP from the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. He also joined the Congress party in 2009. However, in the last Lok Sabha election i.e. 2019, as an independent candidate, he contested.
Got a place in the Home Ministry Committee
Delkar was appointed to the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs. A total of 28 MPs of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were included in this committee, headed by Home Minister Amit Shah. He was named second after Ram Vilas Paswan in the list of 15 senior members of the 17th Lok Sabha.
