In the wake of following a vehicle that appeared as though Scindia's, leaving his unescorted for a few kilometers, 14 police officers were suspended in Madhya Pradesh.
Gwalior: Authorities on Monday, suspended 14 policemen from two districts for a lapse in BJP Rajya Sabha member Jyotiraditya Scindia security while he was on a visit to Madhya Pradesh. The lapse occurred when Scindia was on his way to Gwalior after arriving from Delhi on Sunday night.
A security slip by including BJP MP Jyotiraditya Scindia has prompted the suspension of 14 cops in Madhya Pradesh. The episode being referred to occurred on Sunday when the Rajya Sabha MP was getting back to Gwalior from New Delhi. As indicated by reports, a pilot police vehicle should accompany Jyotiraditya Scindia's caravan right from the Morena line to the Gwalior line.
Nonetheless, the police escort confused another vehicle with the one shipping Jyotiraditya Scindia to Gwalior. The police escort followed the other vehicle for almost 10 kilometers prior to understanding that the vehicle was not a piece of Scindia's guard. Subsequently, Scindia's guard was without a police escort for a stretch of around eight kilometers.
The BJP leader's convoy was eventually escorted to Jai Vilas Palace in Gwalior by personnel attached to the Hazira police station. When higher authorities were informed about the pass in security, orders were given for the suspension of 14 authorities. The Morena Director of Police (SP) suspended nine authorities, while Gwalior SP Amit Sanghi set another five authorities under suspension for this pass.
Jyotiraditya Scindia was given 'Z' security in February 2019. The 'Z' class includes 22 workforces, including 8 equipped watchmen at the protectee's home, two individual security officials (PSOs) nonstop, and an outfitted escort of one-three vehicles for all excursions attempted by street.
