Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that most of the states have supported the new Motor Vehicle Act. He said in a program on Tuesday that only one or two states have raised objections to certain provisions, which include heavy penalties.
Gadkari said that I have spoken to the Chief Ministers. States have no objection to other provisions. Gujarat and Uttarakhand have also accepted this along with reducing the fine. Gaining the support of all of us will make this mission a success. The government's goal is not to increase its revenue from the challan amount. It is the effort of the government that people respect the law. He also said that the Center does not get any share in the amount of the fine.
The Union Minister said that the states have every right to change the rate of penalty in the new motor vehicle act. I am getting information that people are no longer crossing the white traffic line. Not only this, the number of people who get fitness certificate has been recorded four to five times. People now understand that they have goodness in this.
After the implementation of the new Motor Vehicle Act Act, cases of huge challans have been increased. BJP-ruled Gujarat and Uttarakhand have worked to provide relief to people by reducing the amount of fine. At the same time, the amount of fine is being considered in Karnataka.
