According to the news agency PTI, the investigation branch of the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) had recommended the continuation of tax on China imports.

After this, anti-dumping duty was imposed on steel and fibreglass measuring tape imported from China. This duty was first imposed for five years on 9 July 2015. It has now been extended again for the next five years.

China was dumping

DGTR said in its investigation report that China is continuously dumping these goods in the Indian market. Due to dumping, prices are much lower. If duty is not imposed on them, they will be bridged in the Indian market. To protect Indian manufacturers from these cheap Chinese goods, it has been decided to impose the anti-dumping duty.
