President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday appointed new governors in 8 states. These include the name of Social Justice Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot, who was included in the Modi cabinet. He has been made the Governor of Karnataka. This change has happened when the name of Madhya Pradesh BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia is almost fixed for the next cabinet expansion. Thawar Chand, 73, has been a constant member of Modi's cabinet after becoming the Prime Minister in 2014.

It is believed that by making Thawar Chand the governor, a place has been vacated for Scindia from the Madhya Pradesh quota. However, what will be the profile of Scindia, it is not yet decided. It is definitely a discussion that Modi will entrust him with a big responsibility. Till now there were 4 ministers in the Modi cabinet from Madhya Pradesh. Narendra Singh Tomar, Prahlad Patel, Thawar Chand Gehlot and Faggan Singh Kulaste.

New governors appointed in these states

Bandaru Dattatreya in Haryana, Mangubhai Patel in Madhya Pradesh, Rajendran Vishwanath Arlekar in Himachal Pradesh, PS Sreedharan Pillai in Goa, Ramesh Bais in Rajasthan, Satyadev Narayan Arya in Tripura and Hari Babu Kambhampati in Mizoram have been made governors.
