Modi 2.0: BJP Snatched Power from Congress in Two States in Ten Months

After winning the second innings of the Lok Sabha under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP is upbeat. In the last ten months, BJP has captured the power of two states of Congress. Soon after the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP first wrested power from the hands of the Congress-JDS in Karnataka and now has defeated the Kamal Nath-led Congress government in Madhya Pradesh.

In the midst of the political turmoil that has been going on in Madhya Pradesh for the last 17 days, on Friday, Kamal Nath went to Raj Bhavan and submitted his resignation to Governor Lalji Tandon. With this, the 15-month-old government headed by Kamal Nath of Madhya Pradesh has departed from power. Before the resignation, Kamal Nath said that the BJP had got 15 years to rule in Madhya Pradesh and the people had elected us for five years, but only 15 months were given under the conspiracy.

It should be notede that in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections 2018, BJP came into the fray under the leadership of Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Congress contested under Kamal Nath. Out of 230 assembly seats in the state, Congress won 114, BJP 109, BSP 2, SP 1 and four independents. Kamal Nath formed the government with the support of SP, BSP and Independent MLAs.

After 15 months, BJP has seized power of Kamal Nath in Madhya Pradesh through Operation Lotus. Jyotiraditya Scindia played an important role in this, who left the Congress and joined the BJP. 22 of his supporting MLAs also resigned, due to which Kamal Nath has been forced to resign. However, Kamal Nath tried everything possible to save his government, but he did not get success.

After winning the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP first tried Operation Lotus in Karnataka. In May 2018, no party got a majority in the Karnataka assembly elections. BJP had emerged as the largest party, but after joining hands of Congress and JDS, the aspirations of the BJP to take over the power had receded.

The government was formed under the leadership of Kumaraswamy, but after the Lok Sabha elections 17 Congress-JDS MLAs revolted. Apart from this, two independent MLAs also announced withdrawal of support from the government. After this, after several days of political drama, after the Supreme Court's order on 23 July 2019, the floor test took place and the Congress-JDS coalition government could not prove majority and the government fell. After this, the BJP government was formed under the leadership of BS Yeddyurappa and the rebel MLAs joined the lotus party.
