Corona cases have started increasing once again in the world. In such a situation, most of the countries are engaged in vaccination on a war footing. Currently, vaccine doses are being given to people above 18 years of age. In such a situation, the risk of the virus is still looming on the children. Now a piece of good news has come out in this matter. The European Union's top medical body has approved Moderna corona vaccine for children aged 12-17. Earlier in May, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) approved Pfizer for this age group.
The EMA said the Spikevax vaccine of Moderna for children ages 12 to 17 would be used in the same way as for those aged 18 and older. Two doses of the vaccine will be given. Only a gap of 4 weeks will be kept between both doses.
According to the EMA, Spikewax was tested on 3,732 children aged 12-17 years. Its results were positive. During this, it was found that a good amount of antibodies were made in everyone's body. The same antibodies were also seen in people aged 18 to 25 years.
At the same time, Pfizer has also started trials of its vaccine on children under the age of 12. In the first phase of the study, a small number of young children will be given different doses of the vaccine. For this, Pfizer has selected more than 4,500 children in four countries of the world.
In May this year, AstraZeneca started a study in Britain on children aged 6 to 17 years. At the same time, Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has also started the study. China's Spikewax has also described its vaccine as effective on children up to 3 years old.
