India's private plane, which went to Dominica with documents last week for the extradition of fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi, has now taken off empty-handed. People familiar with the matter informed that a private plane sent to Dominica with documents related to the extradition of fugitive diamond merchant Mehul Choksi last week took off from the island (Dominica) at 8:10 pm (local time) on Thursday. However, no information has been revealed about his destination, where the plane has gone. Let us inform that Choksi, wanted in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case, is currently in the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital under the supervision of the police.

Mehul Choksi was caught in Dominica on 23 May

Sources with knowledge of the matter said that whether the Indian team that went to Dominica with the documents has also returned or not, it is not known. Not only this, the destination of the flight is also not known where the plane has taken off. However, it is certain that the plane has left Dominica. Let us inform that Mehul Choksi, born in India, has taken citizenship of Antigua. He was caught in Dominica on 23 May. He is accused of entering Dominica illegally and the matter is also being heard in the court.

Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne said last week that a Qatar Airways private plane landed at Douglas-Charles Airport in Dominica on May 29. After which there was speculation about Choksi's extradition. Brown also revealed on a radio show in his home country that Choksi may have left Antigua and took a boat ride to Dominica to have dinner or have a good time with his girlfriend. He said that Choksi, who went missing under mysterious circumstances from Antigua and Barbuda, was caught in neighboring Dominica. Brown told in the Radisha show that the plane has come from India carrying the documents required for Choksi's extradition.

Flight reached Dominica at 1:16 am local time the same day

According to publicly available data from Qatar's executive flight A7CEE, the aircraft took off from Delhi airport at 3:44 am on May 28 and reached Dominica at 1:16 am local time the same day. Choksi, however, has alleged that Antigua and Indian-looking policemen kidnapped him from Jolly port in Antigua and Barbuda and took him to Dominica.

Here, on Thursday, the court rejected the bail application of Mehul Choksi and sent him to police custody for about two weeks. At the same time, the High Court of Dominica on Thursday adjourned the hearing on the habeas corpus petition filed by diamond trader Mehul Choksi. Local media outlet Antigua Newsroom reported that Justice Bernie Stephenson would set a date for the next hearing in the case after hearing both sides.

Indian government officials are trying their best to extradite Choksi. Choksi took citizenship of Antigua and Barbuda in 2017 and fled India in the first week of January 2018. It was only after this that the scam came to light. Mehul is facing CBI probe.
