Flying Sikh Milkha Singh did not know that his life partner Nirmal Kaur is no more in this world. Nirmal Kaur, who walked step by step for six decades, had lost the battle to Corona on 13 June. Milkha was recovering. had become weak. That's why the family thought that if they told this, he would be deeply shocked.
The family thought of informing Milkha of Nirmal's demise only after his recovery, but fate had decided something else. On the night of 18th June, only 5 days after Nirmal's departure, Milkha also went to another world. Milkha's son Jeev Milkha Singh had understood that his father's last time had come. The doctors clearly said that the lungs have been completely damaged due to corona.
When Milkha's blood pressure started falling rapidly, son Jeev and daughter Mona said in his ear – Dad, you are also going where Mama has gone. Milkha was on a non-invasive ventilator at that time. On hearing this, he reacted with open eyes and then closed his eyes. Jeev said- 'We did not want him to get the news of Mama's departure. However, his willpower is very strong.
Milkha had also been negative. Then we thought that right at the last moment, they should tell the whole thing.' Milkha was corona positive on 17 May. On May 31, he was discharged from the hospital after the Corona report came negative. But, on June 3, he had to be admitted to the hospital again. The situation kept getting worse. Meanwhile, on June 12, Nirmal Kaur passed away. This was told to Milkha on June 17.
Milkha Singh was cremated in Chandigarh on Saturday. The photo of his wife Nirmal Kaur was placed in Milkha's hands in his last rites. Nirmal was also a player. She had been the captain of the Indian volleyball team. Milkha and Nirmal were completely fit before being corona. Milkha, 91, used to jog every day.
