This action on Chinese apps has been taken under section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000 (right to prohibit public use of any information from any computer resource). The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said: ‘We received information from several sources and reports about the theft of users’ data via mobile apps and data transfer without permission from servers located outside India.
The pressure to sell American operations on Tik Tok
According to a report on Friday, Trump’s plan is to sell Tik Tok’s ownership to ByteDance, the parent company of Tik Tok. Hours after this report came to light, a second report appeared in the media, according to which Microsoft may buy Tik Tok’s US operation.
