Mehul Choksi, an accused in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam, is currently in jail in Dominica. Meanwhile, Mehul's wife Priti has come for her husband's defense on the allegations of Mehul's alleged girlfriend Barbara Jabarica. In a conversation with the media two days ago, Jabarica had accused Mehul of giving fake identity and creating a false theory of kidnapping. On this, Priti has replied on Thursday. Priti says that her husband is being defamed.
Jabarica: When the conversation started with Mehul, he told his name as Raj.
Priti: Even a child checks the identities of his friends on the Internet. It can be detected in a few seconds on Google search and social media.
Jabarica: Between August last year and April this year, Mehul used to message all the time, but I replied to him only once or twice. Then our conversation escalated between April-May this year.
Priti: WhatsApp messages can be easily created by changing the content through software like Photoshop. There is no proof that the messages that are going viral are genuine.
Jabarica: Mehul's kidnapping theory is rubbish. Mehul had asked me to meet him next time in Cuba. He was trying to escape to Cuba.
Priti: Why would he take the risk of tarnishing his image by giving false information and then revealing only that link which fails his theory? False claims are being made to defame my husband. This is a state (Dominica) sponsored scheme which is wrong.
Priti has also raised the question that Jabarika is not revealing her location to anyone. So how can his words be trusted?
Mehul Choksi was living in Antigua-Barbuda. But he suddenly went missing on 23 May and was caught two days later in Dominica. Choksi claims that he was with his girlfriend Barbara Jabarica. During that time he was kidnapped. Kidnappers also beat him, but during this whole incident, Jabarica did not help him. This clearly shows that she was involved in the kidnapping plot.
