For the past one year, there has been a lull in the auto industry. This slack affected almost every major auto companies in the country, including Maruti Suzuki. Due to this, if the companies gave less production, then sales also started falling. Not only this, auto companies like Maruti Suzuki also had to shut down the plant.
However, Maruti’s production now seems to be increasing gradually. This is the reason that the company’s production has increased for the second consecutive month in December. During this period, production increased by 7.88 percent to 1,15,949 units. A year ago in December 2018, the company produced a total of 1,07,478 vehicles.
Let us tell you that in November 2019, production had increased by 4.33 percent to 1,41,834 units. Maruti Suzuki produced 1,14,962 passenger vehicles in December 2019, whereas the company produced 1,06,933 passenger vehicles in the same month a year ago.
The highest production of compact category
Maruti said that the production of the compact category including the new WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Baleno, OEM model and Dzire increased by 40.87 per cent to 62,448 units. Production of the mini category, including Alto, S-Presso and WagonR, fell 9.54 per cent to 25,613 units during this period. The company said that production of utility vehicles including Gypsy, Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, XL-6 and S-Cross increased by 20.62 per cent to 19,825 units.
Production of the Super Carry, a light commercial vehicle, also increased from 545 units in December 2018 to 987 units in December 2019. During this period, the production of the mid-size sedan Ciaz fell from 1,516 units to 894 units and the production of Eco and Omni fell by 62.16 percent to 6,182 units.
